Getting ready

Our last week in Pismo Beach! Wow, it has been a lot of fun and within 6 days we will be on the road. Julia and I are both excited to come home though. It has been a while since we smelled those evergreens! One thing that will be missed though is a church that I just visited on Sunday. It reminded me of Mars Hill yet it was a lot smaller. It was a great message on 1st John 5 and the pastor didn't water down the bible! That was very encouraging. I got to the service an hour and a half early because I dropped Julia off at work, so I helped set up and talked with the pastor for a little bit (when I met him I didn't know he was the pastor)

The church is called Calvery SLO. Check out the website and listen to some of the messages. This church is awesome!

Banned church planting video by Driscoll

Check out the video I have shared on this blog (under shared items). It is the best video by far I have ever seen regarding Christ and his church. It expresses who Jesus is, what church planters should focus on and how they should lead their church.

We have been really enjoying the palm trees here in California here is one of our favorite shots out in front of our house!

I vote for Blake Lewis

So American Idol has got us hooked this year... just because Blake Lewis is one of the contestants! (Jeremy and Blake were in choir together at Inglemoor highschool) Our guesses for the top three finalists are Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle and Jordan Sparks. They are all fun to watch and have lots of pep on stage. Melinda is funny looking, but then again so am I. Blake is very much a seattle kind of guy, laid back and cool. Jordan is fun and isn't messing around. So I guess we'll see what happens!

Sorry about the bad google ads... we have no control over them. The internet is evil sometimes!

Cable Cars

An early morning allowed us to ride the cable cars freely back and forth. We rode all the lines, it was great! We went to the Giants verses the Athletics baseball game, it was intense having the two bay teams playing each other. The Athletics won the game! We left the game with big smiles and sunburnt faces! San Fran is really much like Seattle... the people are a lot alike; both cultures share the same desires and tend to be stylish, hip, single, cool, organic, sustainable, dog-loving, and Jesus-hating. It is sad, very sad. The dogs are very cute... running around making people smile! But the lack of Christ is very evident, you can feel it. But, as it says in the Bible, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus is Lord. Praise the Lord and Happy Palm Sunday everyone!

San Fransisco!

Hey Everyone! We are in San Fransisco tonight! We are staying in the youth hostel in Fort Mason. We ran to the golden gate bridge this afternoon, the sun was shining brightly and there were lots of people out enjoying the nice weather... We are going to go walk around the city tomorrow... does anyone want anything from San Fransisco?? A jade china doll or a roll of sourdough bread perhaps?

Fun in Santa Barbara

We took this trip in mid Feb. We went to the beach, walked, shopped around and went out to Mexican for dinner. (It was one of the best Mexican places that i have ever been!)

HOT HOT HOT!

Oh man. The weather is on fire here! On Sunday it was 89 and yesterday (Monday) it was 91. I think we might sweat away!

On Sunday we played some tennis after church. We had a great time and Julia helped me with my serve. I pretty much play tennis on the real court like i do on the wii. ; )

After tennis we headed to the beach, did some swimming, ball throwing and reading. We got together with a big group of people from the Air Force and left the beach to head to some sushi. It was fun hanging out with some new people but the sushi wasn't worth the hype! The place was really lively and busy, but the service felt like we were trying to be forced out the door!

God is working in Pismo

Even though we went to Montana de Oro last weekend, we couldn't resist returning there! It is our new favorite spot in California! We went trail running along the worn coastal trails, the views were magnificent! Up on the cliffs we could watch the ocean waves pound against the rock formations below!

I tried to run away from Jeremy... I was so mad at him and he was so mad at me! But, he is just way too fast! The Lord is working on us, that is for sure! God won't let us run far from Him!

In the evening, we walked to the Honeymoon Cafe. We had the opportunity to talk with the owner, who is a Christian and just a friendly guy! We had a great conversation with the staff there, and were thankful to have fellowship within this new city! The cafe is their ministry, which is awesome. They gave us warm chocolate chip cookies and fresh kettle corn for our movie night, it was very nice! On the walk back to our home, we overheard a young guy talking about Jesus near the pier. We watched and listened to him share the gospel, it was tight! It was so encouraging and refreshing to see God's people live out their faith in Jesus!

Montana de Oro

California hiking is amazing, especially at Montana de Oro! We traveled north of San Luis Obispo about 12 miles along the PCH back to the coastline. Imagine a coastline lined with beautiful rugged cliffs, coastal plains, secluded sandy beaches, grassy canyons and hills! It is heavenly and enchanting! The park is a huge area to explore with many worn trails, a few campgrounds, and just satiated with natural beauty! We hiked the 1,347 Valencia Peak, following a 2 mile trail in the hills overlooking the ocean. The crashing roar of the ocean was captivating in such a quiet and secluded space. The views along the trail and at the peak were purely delicious. I have always wanted to hike along a path on the peaks of mountains or hills, and we did! The vastness of the ocean and the depths of the hills that were surrounding us were so invigorating! We are so thankful for the ability to enjoy and experience more of the beautiful earth created by the hand of our Great God and Father!

Lately

We have reached the end of the week and things have been going well. Julia has to work two 12 hour shifts. Today and tomorrow. She just got done going through training both yesterday and the day before. I have been fairly busy with work and I have another project to work on down here for another company. I will have to wait and see how that project pans out...

Last weekend we went to Santa Barbara. It was a lot of fun and busy. We went to the beach, strolled State street and went out to a Mexican restaurant. We were with Seth, Sarah, Katie and Bobby (Seth and Sarah's friends) Everyone had a great time and we had some of the best Mexican food ever! That's saying a lot because Julia and I eat Mexican about 5-7 days a week! Well thats all for now, we love you guys. hope all is well.

JJ's birthday bash

What fun we had this thursday! It was like Julia had 3 birthdays
because she woke up 3 different times throughout the day. (she worked the night before) Tonight we went to a farmers market in the
beautiful town of SLO and got lots of fresh fruits and vegetables,
including blood oranges! Then Julia and i went out to Thai food at a
beautiful place called the 'Thai Palace' After that we went to a
familiar cafe known as 'uptown espresso' I remembered seeing it in
Seattle cause it's logo uses the dubonet man pouring himself a cup of
coffee rather than a glass of wine! Now we are going to watch the
island!! alright.

Fun on Julz's birthday!

We love CALI!

Jeremy and I just walked in the door of our little condo from a pleasant walk on the beach! It is sunny, warm, beautiful, and the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shores is glorious! Living in California is definitely wonderful and life couldn't be better than it is in Pismo Beach! It is refreshing to live in a place that comes somewhat close to the way it will be in heaven! We walk to the beach every morning, afternoon, and evening! Basically we eat all our meals on the beach... the sunsets by the way are gorgeous! Jeremy is able to work at our condo, with a view of the beach just out the window. And the hospital I am at is about 10 minutes away; it is small, friendly, and always busy of course!

Valentines day!

Its our first v-day together. wow! Julia is sleeping right now like a princess. Tonight we are gonna go stroll the beach and watch the sunset before she heads off to work! I guess you could say its gonna be real special.

Arriving

It was just 4 days ago that we arrived and we are still getting aquanted! it has been a lot of fun so far walking around and exploring the area. Our place is nice but the nicest part about it is the location. We are literally less than 50ft away from where the sand starts and bare foot walking begins!
